Dr. John Olson belongs with the best battery experts in the USA with over 25 years in the battery industry, science, research and material testing and development. He published over 40 articles in various media, and has 3 patents.
His areas of expertise cover material science and the related research methods and equipment, as well as electrochemical science, technology, modeling and testing of lead-acid and other types of batteries. He is a world-renowned expert in carbon science and technology, especially in activated carbons, and in using carbon additives to the negative active mass for enhancing the power performance and cycle life of lead-acid batteries. John supported actively the R&D program of the ALABC in the period 2010 – 2015 and presented at several battery conferences and workshops. Dr. Olson had senior and executive positions in five companies (incl. Optima batteries and TDA Research). Currently he is president and founder of Jolson Technologies LLC.
Inventus Power engaged with John over the course of a year to help us resolve an issue with aged inventory of Lead Acid batteries. He assisted us in the initial analysis to determine root cause delivering several detailed reports using our production data in addition to test data he generated in his own lab. Later, he served as an authoritative resource to review the conclusions with our customer and supplier. John was essentially embedded within our team including visits to our site to get ‘hands-on’ with the manufacturing and test processes. He helped keep us on task internally to resolve the issue, and ultimately improved our quality burn-in processes for the product going forward.
